We would like to commend American Eagle for saying ta-ta to digitally altered fashion images and hello to real with their latest Spring/Summer 2014 campaign. Their sister company Aerie Real lingerie recently launched a campaign with models who are completely non-airbrushed in the latest collection of bras, undies and sleepwear.
This “what you see is what you get” campaign allows everything from freckles to blemishes to tattoos to be seen for everyone.
Now of course these are still professional models that are rocking the bra and undies with attractive bodies and gorgeous faces, but it is a step in the right direction and we applaud them for making the move and getting some major attention for such an important issue. The fact that a company like American Eagle is giving authentic representation of women will hopefully help young customers embrace their own beauty, instead of striving for the impossible ideal often promoted in fashion magazines and media.
Tell us what you think of the Spring/Summer 2014 aerie real lingerie ad?
